We Care days improving Westcliff estate in Scunthorpe

We Care days improving Westcliff estate in Scunthorpe.

Ongo colleagues and tenants have been working together to improve the Westcliff estate, as part of another We Care day.

The days, which first started in 2018, were introduced as a way of giving something back to communities and making a difference in a short space of time. From painting, weeding, filling skips, sweeping, planting and chatting to residents.

All three events were held in May and June at Westcliff Closes and surrounding areas. Work primarily included gardening, tidying up and painting fences to create a fresh and welcoming feel on the estate.

Members of the community were involved too, supplying refreshments and getting stuck in.

Jan Williams, Head of Opportunities at Ongo said: “We have had an excellent turnout to these events, all three days and sessions were fully booked showing just how much colleagues care about giving back.

“The work carried out the Westcliff estate has made a huge difference to the area and is really helping to promote a positive environment that residents can be proud of.

“I’m very thankful to all those who have been involved and cannot wait for more days to be organised very soon. Thank-you once again.”

All Covid-19 secure measures were followed during these days to keep each other safe, including limited groups with an allocated leader, spaced out sessions, a safety briefing on the day and protective equipment provided.

Ongo are set to hold more days like this in the future, so if you’d like to find out more, or if you have any ideas for where they can carry out another We Care day, let them know. To find out more about their services, follow them on social media or head to:www.ongo.co.uk.
