Murder investigation launched after woman found dead at house in Scunthorpe

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Scunthorpe this morning.

Just after 9am this morning, police were called to the house after receiving reports of concern for safety on Baldwin Avenue in Bottesford.

The 39-year-old woman had tragically suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Today (Friday 18 June) at 9:10am we were called to a property following reports of a concern for safety on Baldwin Avenue, Bottesford.

“On arrival at the property it was discovered a 39-year-old woman had suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The victim’s family are currently being supported by specialist trained officers and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in our custody.

“A cordon is in place at the scene whilst officers continue with their enquiries.”

Detective Chief Inspector Grant Taylor said: “We are aware that a tragic incident of this nature will shock the local community, this is an isolated incident between individuals know to each other with no wider risk to the community.

“However, our officers remain in the area to provide reassurance, if you do have any concerns please come and speak to us.

“We would ask that anyone with any information who has not yet spoken to us to call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 147 of 18 June.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.”
