Emergency services called to New Clee station

Trains travelling between Cleethorpes and Grimsby Town have been halted after a railway line was closed following reports of a police incident.

A person is thought to have been injured by a train.

Emergency services are currently on the scene dealing with the incident at New Clee railway station.

Thorold Street is also closed.

A spokesperson for National Rail said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Cleethorpes and Grimsby Town. So they can safely do their work, all lines are currently closed.

“Trains may be cancelled or diverted until approximately 13:45.”

The organisation later confirmed that the disruption is expected to continue until at least 15:45.

Train services to Manchester are also affected, although replacement bus services have been provided.

Humberside Police have been contacted for a statement.

Updates to follow.

UPDATE: Lines have reopened, however trains may continue to be cancelled as services return to normal.
