Concerns regarding a potential closure of the theory test centre in Scunthorpe

Concerns regarding a potential closure of the theory test centre in Scunthorpe.

The DVSA have announced as from this September, Scunthorpe will no longer have a driving theory test centre. Meaning students will have to travel to either Grimsby , Doncaster, Hull or Lincoln to take their theory test.
For some people this will be impossible meaning they wont be able to complete their driving and gain their freedom
There has been a petition set up to try and prevent this from happening.
#saveourtheorytestcentre has been set up and people across North lincolnshire are urged to email their local MP’s ([email protected] & [email protected])

In total 11 test centres have been earmarked for closure.

Holly Mumby-Croft – official social media

Local PM, Holly Mumby-Croft has spoken on on social media saying: ” I want to reassure local residents that Andrew Percy MP and myself are already on the case, and we have both pressed DVSA to get a full picture of what is happening.”

“This may be down to contractual or service changes with outsourced providers and agreements with landlords. If this is the case, the Leader of North Lincs Council – Cllr. Waltham will offer DVSA North Lincs Council’s full support in resolving this matter with access to council-owned buildings to ensure the continuation of tests.”

Holly added: “As I have said, we are still making further enquiries to understand what’s exactly happening here and I will of course continue to keep residents updated on this. I did my theory test in Scunthorpe years ago and I do understand how important it is that we have this available locally.”
