Exciting music summer school created for young people comes to Grimsby next month

Young people aged between 10 and 21 in North East Lincolnshire are being given the chance to attend an exciting music summer school next month.

The Grimsby Creates Noise Summer School will be held by NEL Music Hub and Grimsby Creates between 23 and 27 August at Grimsby Institute.

The programme will focus on five different art forms, from rapping, lyric writing and DJ skills to music production, street dance and beatboxing.

There will be a full day workshop on each category, with a small performance at the end of each day.

Each participant will be allocated a group alongside other students within their age bracket.

Zoe Everatt from NEL Music Hub said: “We’re really excited to have Noise Academy from Lincoln delivering this with us. They are real experts in the music technology and dance music field, both as professional artists and as educators.

“This is such an exciting opportunity for young people to experience something different, and engage with and make music in a brand new way.”

The summer school will cost £30 for the week, or £50 after the early bird price ends on 19 July.

For any families who might not be able to pay the fee, young people can ask for a voucher code from their school or college.

To sign up to the summer school, just email grimsbycreatesnoisess@gmail.com and you will be sent a link to the sign-up page.

A spokesperson from North East Lincolnshire Council said: “This project is supported by the Grimsby Creates programme, a unique opportunity to transform Grimsby into a vibrant town centre where heritage and creativity are enjoyed.

“With £5.3m to be spent over three years, the creative development programme will deliver events, help creative organisations grow and build new spaces for creative business and events.”
