Northern Lincolnshire NHS promise to protect patients this winter
Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust are preparing for their winter flu vaccinations in a bid to protect both staff and patients during the upcoming colder months.
All members of staff in the trusts hospitals in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole are being offered the flu vaccination from doctors and nurses to catering staff and maintenance teams.
The trust has said that winter is always their busiest time of year due to seasonal surges in viruses, this year will be no different due to still the present threat of Covid-19.
As part of their vaccination programme, the trust are also giving a donation to UNICEF’s Get a Jab, Give a Jab campaign, which will provide vaccinations to vulnerable children across the globe.
Last year more than 70% of Team NLaG took up the offer of the vaccine which helped make a real difference to those who have no other access to health care.
Christine Brereton, Director of People and Senior Responsible Officer for the winter vaccination campaign, said: “If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that we all need to look out for each other.
“Here at NLaG we’re in the fortunate position of being able to offer all our staff the opportunity to have vital vaccinations, such as those protecting us from Covid and flu.
“However, there are thousands of vulnerable children across the globe who don’t have access to any kind of health care.
“By making a donation to UNICEF on behalf of all our staff, we are enabling this fantastic charity to reach out to more of those children and offer them the protection from disease that we take for granted.”
While they are not offering the vaccination to the public at their hospital sites, they are backing colleagues in the community in encouraging as many people as possible to receive it.
