£35,000 in donations sought for additional facilities at new A&E department in Grimsby
As progress on the new A&E department in Grimsby at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital is underway, the Health Tree Foundation are still working hard to raise £35,000 to go towards some of the building’s new facilities and equipment.
The charity are also attempting to raise a further £35,000 for the new A&E department at Scunthorpe General Hospital.
The new department at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital will include a new entrance lobby to the main hospital, a retail space open 24/7 and two floors of 234 car parking spaces, along with special CT scanning equipment and emergency clinical accommodation.
There will also be a special room designed for those with mental health conditions who are in distress, and a specialist paediatric waiting area with interactive lighting and floor panels, gaming units and vibrant wall art to make childrens’ stays in the department “less traumatic”.
A spokesperson for the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust said: “We need to raise £70,000 to buy additional facilities for our new Emergency Departments that will help to make your next visit as easy as possible.
“These are extra enhancements to what is already being built in our A&Es and they are funded by our charity – the Health Tree Foundation.
“Our new facilities are for the people of Grimsby and the surrounding areas and we are proud to be giving back to our local communities who have helped us out so much over the years.
“You deserve the best we can provide and our amazing NHS staff are going above and beyond to help us fundraise to provide these wonderful enhancements for our local patients and their families.
“If every adult in North East Lincolnshire donated what it costs to buy a plastic carrier bag, just 10p, we could raise over £15,000 in a heartbeat for our hospital! Imagine what we could do if everyone gave £9.99 to help our 999 service!”
The state-of-the-art building is set to be complete by early 2022.
