Four glamping pods to provide alternative accommodation to locals and visitors to Grimsby

A new business venture could be in the pipeline for a member of North East Lincolnshire’s Cabinet.

Councillor Ron Shepherd is seeking planning permission to build four glamping pods at his smallholding on Bradley Road, known as the Shepherd’s Purse.

Currently under consideration by NELC planning officers, the glamping pods will provide local residents and tourists alike with a cozy and comfortable alternative place to stay, whether it’s for one night or one week.

Cumbria-based company Newfoundland Lodges Limited writes about the pods in their brochure: “Welcome to The Original PodTM – the unrivalled best in intermediate accommodation.

“Since we created the Pod in 2004 our iconic design concept has spread its wings all around the globe and now, led by our innovative design team, we offer a wide range of Pods that serve many sectors including Glamping and Boutique Hospitality.

“Our expertise in this field and ability to adapt to our client’s needs has enabled us to supply to some of the country’s most highly regarded organisations in some really magnificent locations.”

The company already have already installed many glamping pods in a range of locations across the country for people to enjoy, including the Lake District, Upwood Park in West Yorkshire and Brecon Beacons.

A decision on whether or not to build the pods on Bradley Road will be made by North East Lincolnshire Council in due course.
