Catering team receive award for incredible work during pandemic

North Lincolnshire Council’s catering team have been rewarded for going above and beyond throughout the pandemic.

The team worked tirelessly to ensure community meals, school grocery bags for families and emergency food parcels were delivered with a smile.

All of their hard work resulted in the team receiving many positive comments and words of thanks from within the community.

The cherry on the cake came when the team won the special LACA Covid-19 award for going the extra mile.

The LACA is the leading body that represents the delivery of excellence in school food and holds an annual LACA awards ceremony to celebrate and recognise outstanding individuals and organisations within the industry.

The annual awards ceremony were held on Friday 24 September, where the catering team were announced as the winners of the LACA Covid-19 award for going the extra mile and a few of the team members in attendance accepted the award on behalf of the whole team.

The team that cover the Haxey area were also shortlisted for the ‘Unsung Hero Award’ and made it to the top three shortlist.

Cllr Neil Poole, cabinet member for Commercial said: “This award speaks volumes regarding the dedication and resilience that this team has shown during the pandemic.

“They have faced every challenge head on and put our residents at the forefront to ensure that they are safe and well.

“It is a huge achievement to receive recognition from the LACA and a well-deserved award for our catering team for going above and beyond.”
