When and where are the Remembrance Day commemorations in Grimsby?

There are several Remembrance Day events taking place on Sunday 14 November to pay tribute to our fallen heroes across North East Lincolnshire.

These memorials will be held across the county in Grimsby, Cleethorpes, New Waltham, healing and Immingham.

Road closures and diversions will be in place to ensure that the commemorations go ahead without undisturbed.

Grimsby Minster – 9:30am

Right Reverend Doctor Nigel Peyton will lead Grimsby’s Civic Service of Remembrance at the Grimsby Minster on Sunday morning.

Members of the Minster choir will sing So They Gave Their Bodies to the Commonwealth and will be followed by a parade from St James’ Church to the Cenotaph at Nun’s Corner, followed by a two-minute silence.

Attendees are advised to wear masks and maintain social distancing wherever possible.

The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook, in case you are unable to attend in-person.

Road closures will be in place on Bethlehem Street, Church Lane, Deansgate and Bargate.

Remembrance Day Service and Parade, Cleethorpes – 10am

A service will also take place at St Peter’s Church, led by Reverend Paul Hunter for those in Cleethorpes.

The service will be followed by a memorial at the Cenotaph outside the church, concluding with a two-minute silence.

A parade will also be held from St Peter’s Church, moving along St Peter’s Avenue, Short Street, market Street and Alexandria Road, concluding at the Memorial Gate.

These roads will be closed during the parade.

Remembrance Sunday Service, War Memorial, Pelham Road, Immingham – 10.45am

Immingham Town Council Mayor Kevin Houghton will lead a memorial for those who served their country, concluding with a two-minute silence at 11am.

Pelham Road and roads around the County Hotel will be closed to allow the service to flow without interruption.

New Waltham Remembrance at the War Memorial – 10:30am

The Waltham Academy Choir will sing songs and there will be a reading from Cllr Dinsdale Shaw at the memorial in New Waltham.

Cllr George Baker will also lead the laying of the wreaths, followed by a two-minute silence at 11am.

Reverend Rachel Fowler will then conduct a church service to commemorate our fallen heroes, although this service does have limited spaces.

Traffic on Peaks Lane will be stopped from 10:55am to 11:05am to observe the silence.

Peaks Avenue will also be closed to facilitate the service.

Laceby – 10:30am

There will be a memorial parade from the Royal British Legion in Austin Garth to the cemetery, followed by a service.

There will be road closures in place between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Austin Garth, New Chapel Lane, High Street and Cemetery Lane.

Healing – 10:30am

Healing Royal British Legion will have a parade form the Legion car park to the War Memorial at the Low Road/The Avenue junction at 10:30am followed by a service.

Attendees will parade back to the Royal British Legion Club for refreshments and a buffet, available to the public.

Road closures will be in place on The Avenue and Low Road to facilitate the parade and service.

Waltham Remembrance Day Parade – 10:45am

There will be a memorial parade beginning at Royal British Legion at 10:45am, followed by a service at the War Memorial on Cheapside 15 minutes later at 11am.

The parade will continue to All Saints Church for a church service at 11:15am, however there are just 15 public tickets available for the remembrance service due to the pandemic.

Tea and Coffee will be served at Waltham British Legion at 12:15pm.

Road closures will be in place on Barnoldby Road, Brigsley Road, Cheapside and Kirkgate to facilitate the parade and service.
