Remembrance Sunday services in North Lincolnshire

Remembrance services will be held across North Lincolnshire this Sunday in honour of the fallen servicemen and women.

Last year services were cancelled due to the pandemic, with residents paying their respects by holding a two-minute silence at the doorstep and creating window poppy displays.

Here is a rundown on the events taking place this remembrance Sunday.

Scunthorpe

The parade will assemble outside the Baths Hall, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe at 10.10 am and will be made up of uniformed groups, veterans and organisations.

The parade will then make its way down Doncaster Road to the Cenotaph outside North Lincolnshire Museum on Oswald Road.

The service will be led by Reverend Canon Philip Brent of St Lawrence Church, Scunthorpe, starting at 10.45 am.

There will be the Act of Remembrance and a two-minute silence at 11 am, followed by wreath-laying at the Cenotaph.

Brigg

The Brigg Service of Remembrance will take place on Sunday with a parade leaving Station Road at 9.30 am to head to St John’s Church.

There will be a service in the church at 9.50 am followed by a parade to the war memorial on the monument roundabout.

A two-minute silence will be observed at 11 am following a wreath-laying. The parade will then make its way back to Station Road.

Barton-Upon-Humber

The Remembrance Day Parade and services will take place on Sunday with a parade assembling with Standards, outside The Assembly Rooms, Queen Street, Barton from 10.15 am.

The parade will leave Queen Street at 10.30 am, arriving at the War Memorial on Barrow Road at 10.50 am.

A service will be conducted at St Mary’s Church from 11.30 am where standards will be laid and the names of the fallen read out.

Wreaths will be laid at the Memorial Service at The Cenotaph.

Crowle

Services will also be held at Ealand and Crowle war memorial services on Sunday.

Ealand will be holding their service from 10:45 am till 11:15 am, Crowle’s service will be held from 12:00 pm till 12:30 pm.

Road closures will be in place prior to and for the duration of both services.
