Freshney Place’s ‘Have a Heart’ campaign will help children smile this Christmas
Freshney Place has launched its annual ‘Have a Heart‘ campaign to help children who might not get a gift this Christmas.
The shopping centre is appealing to the local residents to take part in this heartwarming initiative in the run-up to Christmas.
Shoppers can visit the tree in the shopping centre outside HMV and pick up a tag, which will inform them of a child’s gender and age.
They can then go and buy a gift for the child on the gift tag before taking it back to the customer service desk to be wrapped and given out, bringing a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.
The initiative is in partnership with local charities Building Resilience in Communities and the NSPCC.
Freshney Place is hoping to maintain the record number of gifts received last year.
For those wanting to take part in spreading Christmas cheer this festive season, the closing date for donations is December 18.
Freshney Place will also be supporting Friendship at Home, a charity that aims to help combat loneliness and isolation amongst the elderly in North East Lincolnshire.
Visitors are invited to write a Christmas card, letter or even draw a picture which can be posted in Santa’s post box at the Wood Keepers Cottage near BB’s.
The envelope must be clearly marked Friendship at Home and posted before December 10.
Letters and cards will then be distributed to the elderly living in the area by Friendship at Home.
