Where are the walk-in vaccination sites in Grimsby?

On Sunday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a fast-tracking of England’s booster programme, hoping to offer all adults one by the end of the year.

The NHS website has been unable to handle the current demand to book one and have implemented a queue system on the website to slow down traffic and avoid another crash.

The Armed Forces have been brought in to aid the boost rollout and long queues have been seen at walk-in vaccination sites.

There are currently two of these walk-in sites in Grimsby, with more expected to open as more adults are offered the booster.

People aged 18 and over will be eligible to get their booster from Wednesday 15 December 2021.

Dr Mary Ramsay, Head of Immunisation at UKHSA, has urged all adults to get the booster:  “The data suggests this risk [of catching the virus] is significantly reduced following a booster vaccine, so I urge everyone to take up their booster when eligible.

“We expect the vaccines to show higher protection against the serious complications of COVID-19, so if you haven’t yet had your first 2 doses please book an appointment straight away.”

The Health Secretary, Sajid Javid, agreed, saying: “They [boosters] are our best defence and we have turbocharged our rollout programme inviting 7 million more people over the age of 40 to get their booster jab so even more people get protection from this disease.

“I urge you to come forward as soon as you’re eligible to help keep yourself and your loved ones safe.”

You must wait at least three months (91 days) after you have received your second dose to be able to get the booster, although you can pre-book it after two months (61 days).

If you are eligible for the booster jab, however tested positive for Coronavirus, you will need to wait at least four weeks (28 days) from the date you had symptoms until you can receive the booster.

There are currently only 10 people in hospital who have been detected with the Omicron variant, however England sadly saw their first death from the variant on Monday.
