Wellington Street fire ‘not thought to be suspicious’
Humberside Police have released a statement following the fire which broke out on Wellington Steet, Grimsby yesterday evening (15 December).
At roughly 7 pm yesterday evening emergency services attended a fire at the E Factor building on Wellington Street.
As the fire grew smoke covered the area making it difficult for people to see. This prompted a road closure between Werneth Road and Albion Street as a precaution.
Emergency services arrived at the scene at 7:15 pm which included four fire engines as well as police presecnce.
One person was treated for minor injuries but no other casualties were recorded.
The road was reopened at 9:20 pm after the fire was successfully put out.
Now, Humberside Police have shared that the circumstance surrounding the fire are ‘not thought to be suspicious’ meaning arson is an unlikely cause.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Emergency services attended a fire at a business property on Wellington Street, Grimsby, at around 7:15 pm last night (Wednesday 15 December).
“One person was treated for minor injuries. The circumstances of the cause of the fire are not thought to be suspicious.
“The road was closed between Werneth Road and Albion Street as a precaution, but reopened at 9:20 pm.”
