Major incident on TransPennine Express lines
A ‘major incident’ has occurred on the trainlines used by TransPennine Express trains towards Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
A number of trains travelling towards Cleethorpes have been cancelled following the incident which happened at around 14:45 this afternoon between Barnetby and Habrough stations.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Due to an operational incident between Barnetby and Grimsby Town all lines are blocked.
“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.
“Disruption is expected until 17:30.”
But, staff at Barnetby station have confirmed that no more trains will run on the line today.
Speaking to Gi Media, a train passenger said: “The train had just recently pulled out of Barnetby station when it came to a sudden halt.
“Staff then told us there had been a major incident on the tracks, and that the train would have to return to the station.
“When we arrived, we were told that alternative travel would be arranged as the service had been cancelled for the remainder of the day.”
Alternative travel is being arranged for those with existing tickets.
Updates to follow.
