Grimsby fans unite for Mariners Trust Christmas charity drive

Grimsby Town fans from across the globe united in support of charity for the Mariners Trust’s annual Christmas charity appeal.

Supporters of The Mariners are well-known for their strong support to the football club, featuring in the top five highest average attendances in the league this season, but they have shown their support for the local community this Christmas.

Raising money for St Peters Foodbank, Womens Aid, St Andrew Hospice, Harbour Place and local animal rescue charity The Ark Rescue Centre.

Dave Roberts from The Mariners Trust praised the “phenomenal” support from fans in this festive charity drive, saying:

“The response from Grimsby Town Supporters for our annual Food, Toy and Pet Products appeal has been phenomenal and means that a large number of local people less fortunate than ourselves will receive some much needed help.”

Last night (20 December), representatives from each charity joined together to see the donations from supporters.

In attendance were: Kate Ranson from Women’s Aid, Anna Hunter from St Peter’s Foodbank, Frankie Wood from St Andrews Hospice and Stuart Artist from The Ark Rescue Centre.

He also praised the club for being in touch with its local community, something that new co-owner Jason Stockwood has been vocal about in the past.

“As usual, the Club have also been very supportive by adding to the donations received,” Dave added.

“We are very pleased to be able to support the following local charities because of the generosity of Grimsby Town Supporters: St Peters Foodbank, Womens Aid, St Andrew Hospice, Harbour Place and not forgetting our furry friends The Ark Rescue Centre.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for the help we have received including many exile supporters who have contributed financially to help our local community.”
