Bus improvements in Scartho for disabled passengers

North East Lincolnshire Council will be carrying out works at bus stops in Scartho to make improvements for disabled passengers.

Engineers from McCann & Co will install new sloped, raised kerbs at 10 stops. The new kerbing will make using public transport safer and easier.

Work will take place at the following locations during January and February 2022.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place at each site between 7:30am and 6pm, to allow the works to take place:

  • Monday 10 January 2022: Bus stop on Waltham Road outside the Village Community Centre – will take around four working days to complete.
  • Thursday 13 January 2022: Bus stop on Springfield Road outside Springfield Gospel Hall – will take around four working days to complete.
  • Tuesday 18 January 2022: Bus stop outside 15 Springfield Road – will take around four working days to complete.
  • Friday 21 January 2022: Two bus stops on Springfield Road, between Bracken Park and Well Vale – will take about seven working days to complete.
  • Monday 31 January 2022: Bus stop outside 39 Lavenham Road – will take around four days to complete.
  • Thursday 3 February 2022: Lavenham Road between Langdale Avenue and the Springfield Primary entrance – will take around four days to complete.
  • Tuesday 8 February 2022: Bus stop outside 50 Lavenham Road – will take around four working days to complete.
  • Friday 11 February 2022: Bus stop on Coniston Avenue outside the shops – will take around four working days to complete.
  • Wednesday 16 February 2022: Bus stop opposite 52 Coniston Avenue – will take around four working days to complete.

During the works, the stops being renovated will be temporarily out of use. Passengers are advised to use their nearest alternative bus stop during this time.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “It’s crucial that we make our network of public transport services fully accessible to all passengers, especially to make journeys less difficult and stressful for those with physical disabilities. I would like to thank Scartho residents for their patience while these works are carried out.”
