North East Lincolnshire enters top Covid tier as cases soar
North East Lincolnshire has now entered the top tier for Covid cases as Omicron continues to sweep the nation.
In the week leading up to 31 December, the borough recorded 2923 positive cases, a whopping 116.4 per cent increase on the previous seven days.
The case rate for the area now stands at 1834.2 cases per 100,000 people.
Large parts on the government interactive map are now showing up as black as their case rates also enter the top covid tier.
As of 28 December, there were 36 patients in hospitals across the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust.
The government recently announced that confirmatory PCR tests would no longer be needed in England for those not presenting symptoms with a positive lateral flow test.
Those with the virus can also leave their isolation earlier than the standard ten days if they produce two negative lateral flow tests, 24 hours apart, on days six and seven.
