Woman’s horror as couple engage in ‘sexual acts’ on TransPennine train
A woman has been left horrified after a couple engaged in sexual acts on a TransPennine Express train.
On Sunday 2 January a woman was travelling on a train from Sheffield to Cleethorpes when a couple seated opposite were spotted ‘getting quite amorous.’
To the woman’s shock, the couple then began to engage in sexual acts ‘in the afternoon in full view of other passengers.’
In her distress, the woman approached two male guards and explained the situation only for the guards to laugh and do nothing.
She then approached another female guard to explain how distressed she was but the guard ‘did nothing.’
The woman has since contacted British Transport Police who have said they would check CCTV as engaging in sexual acts in public is a crime.
She has also contacted TransPennine Express but has yet to receive a reply. We contacted both authorities to see what they had to say.
A TransPennine Express spokesperson said: “The safety and comfort of our customers and colleagues is of paramount importance to us and we are sorry for any distress experienced during this journey.
“This type of behaviour is unacceptable, and we are now working closely with colleagues at British Transport Police to identify and trace those responsible.”
British Transport Police said: “We received a report on 3 January of a couple engaging in a sexual act on-board a train Cleethorpes.
“The incident occurred on 2 January. Further witnesses or anyone with information can contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 287 of 03/01/22.”
