Grimsby options diminish as Bapaga and Revan recalled
Grimsby loanees Will Bapaga and Seb Revan have been recalled by their respective clubs, Coventry City and Aston Villa.
Both players’ deals were originally due to end in the Summer but they have been cut short by their clubs after finding it hard to find consistent minutes.
Aston Villa’s Seb Revan featured mainly in the cup competitions and was not favoured to replace fellow full back Michee Efete when the latter went off injured in the 1-0 defeat to Halifax on Tuesday.
A club statement read: “Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that Sebastian Revan and Will Bapaga have been recalled by their parent clubs, Aston Villa and Coventry City respectively.
“Both youngsters penned season-long loan deals with the Mariners in the summer but have found their first-team chances limited in recent weeks.
“Revan made a total of nine appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring twice with both goals coming in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round tie at Bromsgrove Sporting.
“Bapaga made a total of 12 appearances in all competitions for the Mariners, scoring on three occasions.
“We would like to thank both players for their efforts whilst at the club and wish them both all the best in their future.”
Paul Hurst is hoping to bring in some new faces in the January transfer window with some players possibly angling for a move after a frustrating first half of the season.
The departures also leave more loan spots available for Paul Hurst to utilise.
Will Bapaga took to Twitter to thank the club and fans for his time at the club, saying: “Thank you to the fans, players and staff at @officialgtfc for your great support and hospitality. It has been a pleasure & an enjoyable experience playing for this club and I wish you all the best with the remainder of the season!”
