Children’s home awarded ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted

A children’s home in Scunthorpe has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted inspectors recently after they visited the premises in November 2021.

Kingfisher Lodge children’s home on Scotter Road was deemed ‘outstanding’ in all areas.

This included the experiences and progress the children were making as well as how much they were helped and protected by the leaders and managers, North Lincolnshire Council reported.

The children on site are supported with their interests and hobbies, nurtured and cared for in their environment and encouraged to become more independent.

They are all reportedly given ‘positive routines, boundaries and structures’ which helps them develop social and independence skills.

Cllr Julie Reed, cabinet member for children and families, told the council: “It is fantastic to see such a positive report from Ofsted about Kingfisher Lodge.

“They are making a real difference to the children in their care and making sure they have the best opportunities available to them to progress and develop.

“I am thrilled that the hard work and dedication of the team has been recognised with inspectors commenting that the culture in the home is aspiring and motivated.

“This is the second ‘outstanding’ rating for one of our children’s homes in a matter of weeks, which shows the amazing commitment of the teams caring for our children and young people to ensure they are kept safe and well.”
