Scunthorpe man jailed for nearly four years following assault
A man from Scunthorpe has been jailed for assault after attacking another man in an incident which occurred on Tuesday 20 July 2021.
Mark Southall, 55, was found guilty and jailed for assault, more specifically for section 20 GBH (grievous bodily harm), Humberside Police reported.
He was subsequently sentenced at court on Friday 14 January.
The incident involved Southall reportedly punching another man, causing him to lose consciousness for a short while.
When the victim awoke, Southall continued to punch and kick him.
The victim was eventually treated in hospital for his injuries.
The criminal was jailed for three and a half years for the assault.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A man who was found guilty of section 20 GBH was sentenced at court on Friday 14 January.
“Mark Southall (55) of Warley Road, Scunthorpe, was sentenced in relation to an incident on 20 July 2021, in which he assaulted another man by punching him.
“As a result of the assault, the victim lost consciousness for a short time but, when he regained consciousness, Southall repeatedly punched and kicked him, causing numerous injuries that required hospital treatment.
“At court, Southall was given a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence.”
