North East Lincolnshire’s Armed Forces Day set to go ahead

North East Lincolnshire’s Armed Forces day is set to go ahead this year following last years cancellation.

Armed Forces Day is well known for its spectacular air displays and tremendous turnouts from people acorss the local area.

Last year, the event was cancelled due to an increase of Covid cases in the area.

North East Lincolnshire Council had planned a COVID-compliant celebration of our armed forces community at Meridian Showground in Cleethorpes but officials advised against exacerbating the issue by holding large scale events.

Now, organisers have confirmed that the event will go ahead on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 2022.

Armed Forces Day celebrations begin on Monday 20 June when the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on buildings and famous landmarks around the country.

R5 Air Displays shared that they hope to regenerate the event as well as combine with Cleethorpes Carnival.

Sharing the event to Facebook, R5 Air Displays said: “The NE Lincolnshire Armed Forces Weekend is planned to return to Cleethorpes for 2022, with hope to regenerate and combine with Cleethorpes Carnival.”

Armed Forces Day officials have yet to make an announcement on the event.

Updates will follow as more information is announced.
