Teenagers arrested following ‘shocking’ Cleethorpes assaults

Three teenagers have now been arrested following a string of violent and shocking assaults in Cleethorpes on Sunday 16 January.

They have been arrested on suspision of three counts of common assault and one count of racially aggravated assault.

In one alleged incident, one of the teenagers hit an elderly gentleman who tried defending himself. The rest of the group then ‘swarmed’ the elderly man before two security guards and witnesses came to the man’s aid.

According to reports, the youths found the same gentleman again later in the evening near Cleethorpes arcades when they once again attacked him.

The group ‘punched and pushed him back to the ground’ before spitting on him.

Locals were left outraged over the gangs night of terror, claiming that the youths has caused harm to elderly passers by in the past as well as terrorsing local businesses.

One residents wrote: “Well aren’t they hard little dimwits. My goodness, if you are reading this then you ought to hang your heads in absolute shame.

“What if it were your grandparents? Were you dragged up in the gutters with no morals or respect?”

Another shared their view, stating: “This generation is absolutely shocking. No respect for anybody. It’s only going to get worse if they’re not punished properly.”

Two boys, aged 15 and 16, and one girl, 15, have all been arrested for the assaults which took place down the Promenade and St Peter’s Avenue.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Three teenagers have been arrested this morning in connection with four alleged assaults in Cleethorpes last week.

“Two boys (aged 15 and 14) and a girl (aged 15) have all been arrested on suspicion of three counts of common assault and one count of racially aggravated assault. They remain in our custody at this time whilst enquiries continue.

“The three alleged assaults all took place on Sunday 16 January. Two occurred on the Promenade and one on St Peter’s Avenue.

“The racially aggravated assault reportedly took place on Wednesday 12 January at a business on Alexandra Road, Cleethorpes.

“Anyone with information about these incidents, who has not already spoken to us, is asked to call our non-emergency 101 line quoting log 366 of 16 January.”
