Exciting upgrade for Cleethorpes Light Railway!

One of Cleethorpes Light Railway’s most popular locomotives has been taken away for an exciting makeover!

No.24 left the tracks earlier this week to make its way to John Fowler Engineering in the Lake District.

The train is set to undergo a full renovation and is expected to return in Spring 2023.

One lucky spectator caught the locomotive’s departure on camera – watch it being removed from the line here:

Speaking via Facebook, a spokesperson for the railway wrote: “Exciting news to start the year! “One of our most popular locomotives No.24 departed the railway yesterday and made its way over to John Fowler Engineering, Bouth in the Lake District. “She is going to have a top to bottom overhaul leaving no bolt untouched and the intention is that she will be back with us in Spring 2023 ready for the railways 75th Anniversary. “The engineers there did a fantastic job overhauling Bonnie Dundee so we are delighted to see them undertake this work too!”

Keep an eye out in Spring 2023 for the return of No.24!
