Work progresses at Grimsby’s new Aldi store!
Work is rapidly progressing at Grimsby’s newest supermarket on Scartho Top.
The Aldi supermarket, situated on Caspian Crescent in Matthew Telford Park, is set to open later this year.
The store will serve over 2,100 homes which are set to be built on Matthew Telford Park by the end of 2030.
Planning permission was submitted in March 2020.
Planners were given the go-ahead to begin construction the same year.
With the nearest shop currently 1.5 miles away, residents have welcomed the development.
Construction began in August 2020 after the company announced plans to invest £7.5million in new and upgraded stores across Lincolnshire.
The store is set to feature a 110 space car park, including 6 disabled spaces and 7 parent and child spaces.
Around 40 new jobs will be created, according to Aldi.
The investment is part of the supermarket’s long-term target to reach 1,200 stores in the UK by 2025.
Aldi also confirmed plans to increase the amount of food and drink it buys from British suppliers by £3.5bn a year by 2025.
