New service station planned for M180

Plans have been submitted for a new service station along the M180.

Developers have proposed a number of major developments along a busy intersection near to the M180, A180, A15 and A18.

The improved transport hub, which will house 8 charging points for vehicles, should provide faster links to the surrounding area.

The site will also provide a 200 space lorry park, retail spaces and drive thru fast food restaurants.

But so far the plans have been met with overwhelming opposition.

Local residents believe the development could bring unwanted noise and traffic to the otherwise quiet Barnetby le Wold.

The development would provide a number of new jobs for the local area and would support business and transport links to Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

One resident said: “The planning department don’t mention the other development across the road. We already have a service station and a Starbucks.

“Another bit of the wolds dies in the name of progress – now an area of outstanding services and industrial units”.

The service station could provide a much needed boost for the local area and economy, but residents are worried that noise pollution and increased traffic could threaten local villages.

Authorities say they have no current objections or concerns regarding the impact of the works on the surrounding area and villages.

A planning application has been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council.

A decision has yet to be made over the development.

Updates to follow.
