76 year-old woman tragically dies in A16 crash

A 76-year-old woman has tragically died following a serious collision which occurred on the A16 late yesterday evening.

The incident occurred between the Algarkirk and Kirton roundabouts at around 9:47pm.

The collision is said to have involved a white BMW 420 and a silver Toyota Yaris.

A 76-year-old female passenger sadly died at the scene.

The 72-year-old female driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the BMW is now in custody, and Lincolnshire Police are now appealing for witnesses.

The 37-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He failed to provide a roadside breath test and suffered minor injuries.

The A16 was closed for several hours overnight while police completed their investigation work.

It reopened at around 11 am this morning.
