Humber Bridge closed due to ‘police incident’
The northbound carriageway of the Humber Bridge has been forced to close following a police incident this afternoon.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.
Public transport services are also experiencing significant delays.
A vehicle blown has blown over on the bridge, but nobody is thought to have been seriously injured.
One person tweeted: “Humber Bridge tailbacks south to north beyond Barton outside lane closed due to vehicle blown over.”
A statement issued by Humberside Police said: “Please be aware the Northbound carriageway of the Humber Bridge is currently closed until further notice. Please find alternative routes. We apologise for delays.”
A spokesperson for the Humber Bridge Board added the bridge is expected to be closed ‘until further notice’.
Earlier in the day the board announced that the bridge was closed to high sided and vulnerable vehicles, and was enforcing a 30mph speed limit due to strong winds.
Updates to follow.
