Grimsby man burgles grandmother as she sleeps
A Grimsby man has appeared in court for sentencing after admitting to burgling his own grandmother’s home as she slept.
Ashley Diable, 37, of Jenner Court, Cleethorpes, is said to have entered her home at around 1.45am on August the 31st, 2021.
Speaking to the court, Diable’s grandmother said: “I never thought that my own grandson would do this to me.”
He has was also charged with a separate incident of racially-aggravated assault.
According to reports Ashley Diable was detained by police after they received reports of a man wielding a weapon at Cottingham Pharmacy, Wellington Street on September the 17th.
Officers who attended the scene have suggested that they thought Ashley Diable might have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
A stash a tablets and a bladed article were retrieved from his bag.
A week later Ashley Diable was involved with a racially-motivated assault.
The incident occurred on September the 26th, when he is said to have pushed a disabled man out of his mobility scooter.
Diable admitted both charges – one count of burglary and one of racially-aggravated assault.
He also admitted to the possession of a bladed weapon and a controlled substance.
He has now been sentenced to a total of seven years imprisonment.
