North Lincolnshire Covid case rate increases

The Covid case rate in North Lincolnshire is steadily increasing and currently stands at 1,106.8 cases per 100,000 people.

In the seven days from Friday 28 January to Thursday 3 February, North Lincolnshire Covid cases rose with 3,617 people confirmed to have a positive Covid-19 test, a staggering increase of 118.5 percent compared to the previous seven days.

The Government continues to urge people to receive their booster vaccines to prevent Covid case rates from rising further.

The news comes after a fifth Covid vaccine was approved by a UK drugs regulator.

Nuvaxovid, developed by US company Novavax, reportedly offers up to 89 percent protection against Covid.

Government data shows that, by the end of Wednesday 2 February, 131,783 people in North Lincolnshire had been given their first dose of the vaccine, 123,760 people had been given their second dose and 99,020 people had been given their third.

With the Covid case rate on the rise, between Monday 24 and Sunday 30 January, 70 people were admitted into a local hospital, an increase of 20.7 percent compared to the previous seven days.

The total amount of patients currently in Northern Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals with coronavirus now stands at 68 (as of Tuesday 1 February).

Reports suggest that the unvaccinated are eight times more likely to be admitted into hospital compared to those who have been vaccinated.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics also indicate that double-vaccinated individuals have less of a chance of catching long Covid – a decrease of 41.1 percent.

Nevertheless, despite the increase in Covid case rates this week, over the last seven days, there have only been two deaths in North Lincolnshire within 28 days of a positive Covid-19 test.

However, recent reports have claimed that more than half of Covid patients in England’s hospitals are primarily being treated for a different condition.
