Scunthorpe industrial estate cordoned off due to emergency incident

An industrial estate in Scunthorpe has been cordoned off due to an emergency incident, with an air ambulance reportedly being spotted at the scene.

The incident occurred as early as 8:30am this morning.

At around 9:30am this morning, Friday 4 February, a suspected injured person was reportedly taken away from the scene.

Police cordons have been in place at Kass Steel Stockholders and Omega Steel on Glebe Road since the incident was first reported.

Emergency services, including Humberside Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance, attended the scene this morning.

Forensic Collision Investigations teams also arrived at the site at around 11:00am.

Staff members are reportedly being turned away from the site whilst police investigations are ongoing.

Humberside Police have indicated that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are leading the case.

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance Sercvice said: “We received a call at 8.04am this morning, Friday 4 February, to Glebe Road, Scunthorpe.

“The caller reported a medical emergency.

“We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance was also in attendance.

“One patient was transported to Hull Royal Infirmary via air ambulance.”
