Update after popular businessman attacked at hotel

A suspect is now in police custody after a much loved and respected local business man was brutally attacked, resulting in a serious injuries.

Harvey Shaw, who is the Store Manager at Grimsby Carpet Warehouse (GCW) was attacked at around 12:30am on Saturday the 5th of February while celebrating his birthday at the Brackenborough Hotel.

The suspect is said to have punched Harvey, resulting in a fall and a blow to the head.

He is now in hospital having suffered a bleed on the brain.

Those responsible are said to have fled the scene shortly after the altercation occurred.

But following a widely shared media appeal, the person responsible has now handed themselves in.

A spokesperson for Grimsby Carpet Warehouse said: “We are really pleased to announce that the person who sucker punched Harvey and put him in hospital with a bleed on the brain has handed himself in……(34hrs later!!)

“We just want to thank you all for sharing our previous posts as the guilty culprit was one of the 4 names that were given to us.

“Without your help and the power of social media, this person perhaps may never have come forward!!

“Your support and well wishes has been incredible and we can’t thank you enough.

“Harvey is still in hospital and we would appreciate some privacy during this difficult time.
