School IT Manager jailed for thousands of indecent images

A special school IT administrator has been jailed for possessing and distributing thousands of indecent images of children.

Matthew Winder, 39, of Grimsby, admitted to possession and distribution of the images.

Winder’s IP address was detected as part of a lengthy investigation by the National Crime Agency.

He then voluntarily handed himself in, and admitted to viewing, downloading and sharing images and videos of children.

The offences are said to have taken place over a period of around 20 years, while Winder was employed at Humberston Park Special School.

Around 6000 images were found stored on a device belonging to the defendant.

These images were being used as part of a wider distribution network which included payment, according to reports.

Allegedly the distribution was part of a wider network, this included using payment.

No physical contact or actions of assault against children involving Mr Winder are thought to have taken place.

There is also no evidence to suggest any of the school’s attendees were involved.

Matthew Winder has now been jailed for 12 months.

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order has also been imposed, preventing him from communicating with children online.

Humberston Park Special School have been contacted for a statement.
