By New signage being installed in Cleethorpes
The council has announced plans for new fingerpost signs highlighting the key areas of Cleethorpes are to be installed.
The signs are the council’s plan to update the signage around the resort over the coming years.
Engineers will repair footpaths by laying tarmac and replacing old kerbing in Hainton Avenue, between Sixhills Street and Catherine Street.
The work will reportedly last for around 8 weeks.
During the works, engineers will also address other issues such as the build-up of surface water on parts of the footpath.
The work will be reportedly split into two parts:
- Phase one begins on Monday 21 February on the east side of the street, between 97 and 139 Hainton Avenue, and is expected to last three weeks
- Phase two begins on Monday 14 March on the west side of the street, between 88 and 164 Hainton Avenue, and is expected to last five weeks
“Once completed, the route will become a smoother, safer experience for pedestrians. Using tarmac to repair the footpath means it will be easier to maintain.”.
“To ensure the works can be carried out safely, there will be a one-way system in place from Catherine Street towards Sixhills Street 24 hours a day, with all parking suspended. There will also be a temporary pedestrian walkway in the road so that residents can access their houses. Signs will be in place to inform motorists of any diversion routes in place.”.
Councillor Stewart Swinburn, the portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “As part of ongoing work to upgrade the borough’s footpaths, these works will ensure that the paving is improved for all those that use it. That is particularly vital when considering people using crutches, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or those with other less visible disabilities.
“I understand it can be frustrating when encountering roadworks such as this, so I thank motorists and residents for their patience and look forward to the final improvements.”
The works will be managed and overseen by North East Lincolnshire Council and EQUANS, with engineers from Specialist Surfacing Ltd carrying out the works.
The work is set to start this week.
