Works to provide a ‘Smoother Journey’ along Hainton Avenue

Engineers will repair footpaths by laying tarmac and replacing old kerbing in Hainton Avenue, between Sixhills Street and Catherine Street, from February.

“Phase one begins on Monday 21 February on the east side of the street, between 97 and 139 Hainton Avenue and is expected to last three weeks”.

“Phase two begins on Monday 14 March on the west side of the street, between 88 and 164 Hainton Avenue and is expected to last five weeks”.

The council has outlined its plan to lay the tarmac and replace the kerbs along the street.

“To ensure the works can be carried out safely, there will be a one-way system in place from Catherine Street towards Sixhills Street 24 hours a day, with all parking suspended. There will also be a temporary pedestrian walkway in the road so that residents can access their houses. Signs will be in place to inform motorists of any diversion routes in place.”

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, the portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “As part of ongoing work to upgrade the borough’s footpaths, these works will ensure that the paving is improved for all those that use it. That is particularly vital when considering people using crutches, wheelchairs or mobility scooters, or those with other less visible disabilities.”.

The work will begin on Monday 21 February 2022 and should last eight weeks.
