Vandals destroy Cleethorpes Pied Piper mural
A mural which once hung in the Cleethorpes Library on Isaac’s Hill has been vandalised after it was uncovered by a local resident.
The colourful ‘Pied Piper’ mural sat in the children’s room of the library for years until the building closed and relocated in 1984.
The painting then went missing for several years and was thought to have been lost.
It was recently rediscovered in a former North East Lincolnshire Council depot.
Its location was then revealed by a nationally owned ‘local’ news outlet.
Sadly, the mural has now been targeted by vandals and significantly damaged.
Parts of the damaged mural were found scattered across the floor of the former depot, alongside a number of ballot boxes and other artefacts.
Humberside Police have been contacted for a statement.
Updates to follow.
