Lindsey Lodge Hospice launches challenge events for 2022
Lindsey Lodge Hospice, a Burringham Road-based charity, has launched this year’s challenge events for the public to get involved in.
The exciting challenges on offer for 2022 involves skydives, wing walks, fire walks, runs, swims and much more.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice in Scunthorpe works hard each year to arrange a huge variety of events for their supporters to enjoy, including afternoon tea with the family and grand, red-carpet balls.
Here is a list of some of this year’s biggest challenges:
Polar International Challenge – Friday 11 March (fully booked)
A fully guided, adventurous weekend, beginning with the Olso to Bergian train ride before stepping out into the arctic to experience some skiing or take in the Northern Lights.
Sky Dives – Saturday 16 April, 25 June, 20 August and Sunday 9 October
Price: £50 per person (per skydive) – £300 minimum suggested sponsorship
Minimum age: 16 (under 18s require parental consent)
Great North Swim – Friday 10 to Sunday 12 June (five places remaining)
An open water challenge in the form of a one-mile swim in Lake Windermere, to raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice.
Price: £30 entry – £250 suggested sponsorship
Wing Walk – Saturday 23 July (eight spaces remaining)
Wing walking at Wickenby Aerodrome on a vintage Stearman aircraft, flying over the Lincolnshire countryside.
Time: 3:00pm
Price: £50 per person (ages 18 plus only) – £650 suggested sponsorship
The Big Half – Sunday 4 September (five places remaining)
A London half marathon with a 13.1-mile, closed-road course.
Price: £30 entry – £250 suggested sponsorship
Great North Run – Sunday 11 September (25 places remaining)
Thousands of runners will raise money for Lindsey Lodge Hospice during the world’s biggest half marathon (13.1 miles) in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
Price: £60 entry – £300 suggested sponsorship
Fire/Brick Walk – Sunday 23 October
Face your fears by walking on fire or lego and experience the wonders of a firework display following the main event.
Food stalls and entertainment available.
Times:
4:30pm – Firewalk training
5:15pm – Lego training
5:30pm – Lego walk
5:45pm – Firewalk
6:30pm – Fireworks
Prices:
Firewalk – £20 entry (ages 12 plus only), £100 suggested sponsorship
Lego walk – £10 entry (ages 5 plus only), £50 suggested sponsorship – 1 adult can accompany each child but further adults must pay the £2.50 spectator fee

- Make a Will Month – Tuesday 1 March
- Car Boot Sale – Sunday 6 March
- Yorkshire Three Peaks/Family One Peak – Saturday 14 May
- Charity Golf Open – Friday 17 June
Jog on January‘s annual event is also already planned for Sunday 1 January 2023.

“There’s something for everyone, no matter what their age or ability.
“Every penny raised by our fundraising supporters goes directly towards supporting local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families to access our specialist care and services when they need it most.”
