Boris banned fom Grimsby

Today the Prime Minister visited Lincolnshire, touring the RAF Waddington base before heading to Grimsby and visiting Hilton Sea Foods where he had a go at packing fish cakes.

The PM talked about the governments Levelling Up scheme, which aims to close the gap between the north and south of the country, in what could be construed as a pre-election campaign to win back public favour.

However, while in Grimsby Mr Johnson was supposed to make an appearance in Scartho with local Park Ward Conservative candidate Marian Boyd.

The Park Ward area of Grimsby is currently seeing a by-election, with local residents casting their vote for their next representative.

The PM was set to meet with residents down Antrim Way in Scartho this afternoon.

Despite the visit being arranged and local residents standing by to meet with the PM, Mr Johnson’s appearance was reportedly halted by North East Lincolnshire Council.

Reports suggest that council officers cancelled the Prime Minister’s visit to Park Ward but their reasoning for doing so is unknown.

Joining him on his visit to the town in a rare appearance was Grimsby MP and now private secretary Lia Nici.

Ms Nici was recently appointed as Mr Johnson’s private secretary, with many of her constituents responding with anger and branding her ‘invisible’.
