By Storm damage forces circus to close early
Planet Circus OMG has been forced to cancel all remaining shows at the Meridian Showground in Cleethorpes after storms Dudley and Eunice caused severe damage.
The circus was meant to run until this Sunday.
However, speaking via Facebook this morning a spokesperson announced that the unfortunate decision had been made to close early.
The team said they have been working hard and battling difficult conditions in preparation to open today, but that it simply wasn’t possible.
A statement issued today reads: “After battling since 5am to get ready for today’s shows unfortunately we’ve had to make the very difficult decision to cancel the remainder of our shows in Cleethorpes.
“The ground conditions are hazardous and the threat of more wind and rain to come means we cannot take any risks with you the members of the public and our staff.
“We understand your disappointment but we must ensure the safety of everyone and we will look forward to our return in the new year.”
Ticket holders have been given the option of retaining their tickets for next years show, using them at a number of other northern venues, including the Christmas Spectacular at Lincolnshire Showground, or requesting a refund.
