Warning issued over Grimsby park
Residents have been warned to avoid Duke of York Gardens in Grimsby in the wake of Storm Eunice.
A huge section of a Willow tree is said to have fallen in Duke of York Gardens due to strong winds, creating hazardous conditions at the site.
Speaking last night a spokesperson for North East Lincolnshire Council said: “Please stay away from Duke of York Gardens. There is a particularly vulnerable tree that may fall. We can’t assess the tree properly until the winds die down.”
A section of the tree has since fallen and been cordoned off. The stability of the rest of the tree is now unclear.
This morning a spokesperson added: “Please beware around it and look out for branches and flying debris as it’s still blustery out there.”
A number of trees also fell elsewhere causing disruption and damage across the borough.
Councils workers were spotted removing fallen trees and debris across Grimsby and Cleethorpes late last night.
They are expected to resume their clean-up operation and make the park safe again on Monday.
