Free lateral flow tests to be scrapped
Free lateral flow tests are set to be scrapped as of April 1st, the government has confirmed.
Free access to the provision and PCR tests will be limited to certain groups under the new ‘Living with COVID’ plan.
According to Boris Johnson the UK spent £2 billion on testing in January alone.
But despite restrictions around mask wearing and lateral flow tests being lifted for many venues, most healthcare settings have confirmed plans to continue demanding visitors demonstrate use of both.
This means many, including those on low incomes, may soon be expected to pay to be tested before attending medical appointments.
Anyone who needs a test from 1 April will have to pay between £2 and £5 per individual LFT or around £20 for a pack of seven.
Limits on how many free tests can be ordered online have already been put in place with kits limited to one pack per person every three days.
Would you be willing to pay for a lateral flow or PCR test if you needed one? Let us know!
