Grimsby pair jailed after robbing elderly victims

A pair of men from Grimsby were sentenced yesterday, Friday 25 February, for two burglaries which happened in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area in the September of 2021.

Marcus Blackham (21), of Peaks Lane in Grimsby, and Brandon Dable (18), of Grafton Street in Grimsby, have been sentenced to a combined 6.5 years behind bars for the residential burglaries.

The pair appeared at Grimsby Crown Court yestderday for sentencing.

On 9 September 2021, the pair entered an elderly victims home in Grimsby during the evening before then visiting another property, in Cleethorpes.

The pair violently smashed through a window and raided a 90-year-old man’s bedroom before he awoke, at which point they fled the scene.

They then entered another property belonging to an 83-year-old man where they once against shattered glass, which caused injury to the pensioner and another occupant who were alerted by the robbery.

Blackham abd Dable stole car keys from inside the property and a vehicle from the elderly victim’s home.

The court heard how the pair were found after the crime, with Blacham hiding under a car and Dable in a bush.

They then heard how Dable had to be tasered. When he woke in hospital he was found in possession of a knife.

Blackham has convictions for 38 previous offences, including nine of house burglary and another for aggravated burglary.

Dable has convictions for 15 previous offences, none of them for burglary but one for possessing a knife and another for aggravated vehicle taking.

Detective Sergeant Dharm Chatha said: “I am pleased to see that these two men have been sentenced for their crimes.

“I hope that their time in prison will allow for them to reflect on the impact that these crimes have on their victims.

“It’s important for us that everyone feels safe if their own communities, and especially in their own homes.

“We are committed to investigating burglaries robustly to take offenders off the streets.”

Blackham was jailed for three years and eight months and Dable was sent to a young offenders’ institution for two years and eight months.
