Man arrested after collision in Cleethorpes

A male driver has been arrested following a collision which took place in the early hours of Sunday 27th February.

The incident happened on Brereton Avenue in Cleethorpes.

Humberside Police were called to the scene following reports of a road traffic incident involving two vehicles, one of which was parked at the time.

They arrested the driver of a silver VW van on suspicion of being over the alcohol limit.

Speaking via social media, an eyewitness said “This happened right outside my house. Thank goodness my neighbours weren’t in their car and nobody was harmed!”

A spokesperson for the force wrote: “Back after rest days and turned out straight from briefing to reports of an RTC.

“The driver of the VW van was arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed level of alcohol.

“He is now on his way to Birchin Way to be interviewed about the matter.”
