Remains of missing woman found in Lincolnshire park
Human remains found in a Lincolnshire park have been confirmed as a missing woman, Lincolnshire Police have said.
Lincolnshire Police launched an investigation after bones were found in Witham Way Country Park in Boston, Lincolnshire, last month.
Officers in attendance recovered bones which were later confirmed as human.
A specialist team examined three more areas in the park and discovered further human remains.
The DNA results confirmed the human remains belonged to a missing woman.
In a statement, Lincolnshire Police have confirmed the remains discovered were those of Ilona Golabek.
Ilona, 27-years-old, was reported missing from Boston on November the 9th.
Detective Inspector Andy McWatt said: ” We have located some body parts concealed in bags in the park since we started searching the area on 19 February”
“We remain in the park and are continuing to search the location,” he added.
“Ilona’s family are aware and our thoughts are with them”
After an ‘extensive’ investigation, a murder inquiry was launched which resulted in a 40-year-old being charged with her murder.
Kamil Ranoszek, of Wormgate, Boston, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court charged with Ms Golabek’s murder.
A provisional trial date has been set for 25 April, 2022.
Our thoughts are with Ilona’s family and friends.
