Outrage as Dudley the Donkey vandalised
Locals have responded with shock and outrage after a much-loved statue in Cleethorpes was damaged by vandals.
The damaged statue, which is situated at the Pier Gardens on Cleethorpes seafront, was first reported over the weekend.
Speaking via social media one resident wrote: “I was on a walk in Cleethorpes with my five-year-old granddaughter this afternoon when she wanted to go and pat Dudley the Donkey.
“I had to steer her away rather quickly when I spotted the graffiti on his body and the fact that one ear had been snapped off.”
A number of frustrated residents responded.
One said: “This is just mindless vandalism. It isn’t the first time it’s happened either.”
“This is outrageous. What is there to be gained from this? Why can’t we have anything nice without someone ruining it?” added another.
It has now been confirmed that Donna of Peterson Pottery Studio in Grimsby is going to repair Dudley the Donkey.
North East Lincolnshire Council have been contacted for a statement.
