Grimsby school forced to close due to gas leak
Humberston Academy in Grimsby had to shut down entirely yesterday due to a gas leak.
The 900 students were sent home from school yesterday afternoon after a staff member smelt gas.
There was no school again today for the pupils, who have now returned to online learning until the leak has been dealt with.
All parents were informed of the change through the school’s parent messaging system.
Gas engineers were contacted immediately to rectify the issue.
Sharing the news to Twitter the school said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have made the decision to close the academy from tomorrow until further notice. This is due to a gas leak that has been identified on site. All students will need to remain at home & access remote learning.”
