Mayor prepares for Civic Awards

The Mayor of North East Lincolnshire is getting ready for the first Civic Awards.

People can nominate individuals, community groups, or organizations for award categories.

Nominees and sponsors have been invited to an awards ceremony at Grimsby Town Hall on Friday 11 March.

“During the past few years, many local people have become champions within our communities, putting others before themselves in so many ways,” said Councillor David Hasthorpe.

“When I became Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, I wanted to show these amazing people that we appreciate what they do for so many.

“These awards are all about highlighting the positive and celebrating the good in our fantastic borough – from our businesses and entrepreneurs, to our young people and voluntary and community organizations.”

Renewables firm myenergi is the headline sponsor of the event.

“At myenergi, we are local people, running a local business and in turn we want to recognize local people, running local businesses, helping local causes, and developing local talent,” said Kate Tyrell, corporate events and relationships manager at myenergi.

Richard Askem will reportedly compere in the evening.

Other sponsors for the Civic Awards are Grimsby Fish Merchants Association, Healing Manor, the Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner, Forrester Boyd Wealth Management, Tiru (formerly Dalkia Wastenergy), YMCA Humber, E Factor Group Ltd, Ish Fish, and JemBuild.
