Driver with ‘pre-booked’ MOT followed by Police

Police in Grimsby followed a vehicle to a garage, where the driver stated he had pre-booked an MOT, only to discover that the story was entirely made up on arrival.

According to a Facebook post by Humberside Police, the Mercedes SLK was spotted filling up at the Asda petrol station on Holles street.

The vehicle flagged on their system as not having an MOT.

When questioned, the driver claimed he was on his way to the MOT garage at the time.

Officers wrote: “A costly pay at pump experience for this driver today as this SLK had not had an MOT on it for nearly four months.

“After speaking to the driver, he claimed he was on his way to a pre booked MOT.

“What are the chances I hear you say? Slim it appears, as we followed the chap to the garage that he claimed he had booked the MOT slot with…

“Whilst following the driver to the garage, the suspense was killing us, however…

“You guessed it, it wasn’t booked in for an MOT at all.”

The driver was reported for the offence of driving without MOT.
