Changes to maternity visiting at Grimsby and Scunthorpe hospitals

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust have announced changes to their maternity visiting rules at Grimsby and Scunthorpe hospitals.

Today other visiting restrictions were eased, as two named visitors can attend one at a time, twice a day.

Now, the trust has updated its maternity visiting rules following regional and national guidance.

One birth partner can attend for a six-hour time slot should their partner be in the maternity hospital.

Birth partners can also be with their partner during labour and delivery. A second birth partner is now also welcome to join.

Siblings are still unable to visit the wards.

Sharing the news to Facebook, the trust said: “We recognise restrictions on visiting and support at appointments have been challenging but following regional and national guidance, we are able to further extend our visiting in maternity.

“As of today: One birth partner can attend for a six-hour time slot should their partner be in the maternity hospital in the antenatal or postnatal period.

“Birth partners are welcome to be with their partner during labour and delivery and this is not time-dependent. A second birth partner is now also welcome to join.”

Visiting timeslots can be booked by ringing the ward and it is crucial that partners:
• Wear a face mask
• Have taken a lateral flow test and can provide evidence of the result
• Do not attend if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
